When Suzuki Jimny was launched in Indonesia in mid-2019, we were shocked by the compact and powerful price of 4×4 there.
The price of the CBU imported from Japan ranges from the manual Rp 315.5 juta to the top-spec two-tone automatic Rp 330 juta (ranging from RM93,340 to RM97,605 at the time). The price in Indonesia is much cheaper than the Jimny in Thailand. Launched in early 2019, the price ranged from 1.55 million baht to 1.65 million baht (from RM199,019 to RM211,852 at the time).

Suzuki has no presence in Malaysia, but some gray importers have introduced Jimny from Japan, and the quotation of used cars is much cheaper than the official Thai price. Not to mention Singapore, the off-road capable Suzuki was launched in April 2019 at a price of S$114,100 together with COE (at the time it was priced at RM346,328).
Jimny (Jimny) is popular with Suzuki Indomobil sales, and they have no problems selling the products assigned to them. Due to strong demand, SIS gradually increased prices. According to Autonetmagz, the price of Jimny in 2021 has exceeded the 400 million rupees mark. To be precise, Jimny’s current manual starts at Rp 395.5 juta, while the dual-tone automatic starts at Rp 411 juta. Between RM113,408 to RM117,857.

The auto website says this is not the first quiet price increase. Just last month, the price of Jimny went from Rp 382.5 juta to Rp 398 juta (RM109,666 to RM114,105), so the new year price increased by Rp 13 juta or RM3,727. Now, if Jimny (which is popular worldwide and even has a tuner in Japan) is available in Malaysia at this price, it will definitely fly out of the showroom.
The fourth-generation Jimny for overseas markets defaults to the “Sierra” version, with larger bumpers, wider fenders and a 1.5-liter engine, paired with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission . In Japan, the main seller is the Kei car version, which has a small footprint and is equipped with a 660cc three-cylinder engine.
Elsewhere, Jimny’s engine is a K15B 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 102 PS and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro dual-time four-wheel drive system has an optional high and low range (2H, 4H, 4L, this is not a soft road car).

Before the G-Wagen modification became a reality, Jimny was known for its ruggedness and off-road capability, just like the large Merc. It is built on a ladder frame with additional beams. It uses a three-link rigid shaft with coil springs both front and rear. The ground clearance of 210 mm, the turning radius of 4.9 meters, the approach angle of 37 degrees, the 28-degree ramp breakthrough and the 49-degree deviation angle help improve off-road performance.
Although Jimny is not well-equipped with mainstream SUVs, he is a basic off-road expert after all. ID-spec cars are equipped with automatic LED headlights with gaskets, leather steering wheel with audio/talk buttons, cruise control system, automatic air conditioning and after-sales JVC 2-DIN touch screen head unit.
The front seats are fabric manual chairs, and the rear seats are folded at a ratio of 50:50. It can roll on 15-inch wheels and 195/80 AT tires. The safety package includes ESP, hill keeping control, hill descent control and two airbags.
Before Covid-19 ruined life, there was news from India that Jimny’s production will start at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat factory in May 2020, most of which will be exported. Some people also talk about the five-door version. There is no Defender-style pickup truck body style officially, but Suzuki New Zealand provides a conversion. For two and a half years, Jimny is still cool.(More about auto: vellfire)
